When it comes to ridiculously infectious pop, Kyle Andrews is a pro. Everybody remembers the sticky sweet melody of “You Always Make Me Smile,” yes? Well, “Lazer Tag With Imaginary Friends” is more sour than sweet, but no less catchy. The teaser from Andrews’ upcoming release, Robot Learn Love, is made of acidic, drilling synthesizers and the artist singing about a picture of someone’s face rattling around in his head, which is enough to pique The Deli’s interest. Though Robot isn’t due out until August 16, keep checking back for a video of “Lazer Tag” and more videos from the album.

Abigail Washburn is heading to Bonnaroo this year, but not before stopping by Grimey’s on Tuesday for a quick performance. The banjo-plucking songstress, known for her Americana folk craft and occasionally singing in Mandarin, is celebrating the release of her second album, City of Refuge, on vinyl. Show’s at 6 p.m.

Springwater Supper Club is going to be overflowing with NEW BANDS tonight for a show whose lineup consists entirely of…well…new-ish bands in Nashville. We haven’t watched any of them play live yet, but they consist of members from Nashville bands such as Heavy Cream, Little Bandit, Paper Machete, Vernicious K’nids, and lots of others, so we at least know it’s not going to be bad because those bands consist of fine, upstanding individuals. And it’s at everyone’s favorite Springwater Supper Club & Lounge, so you know it’s going to be one of those scrappy Thursday nights. The show is $5, and according to the Facebook event, the music will start PROMPTLY at 9:30. That seems highly unlikely, but who cares. This should be an interesting show if you don’t have anything better to do. And does the name "Ben Spinks Supermelt" make you hungry by any chance…?–Erin Manning

No one knows what a show is until about 9 p.m., which is why there were only a few people at Mercy Lounge to see how far White Buffalo Woman has come (particularly on guitar) since they formed. Saturday was day one of Nobody’s Vault But Mine, a two-day event in its second year created by and celebrating fans and vault members of Third Man Records. I can only vouch for day one, but it was exciting and vaulty, even though White Buffalo Woman switched from drippy blues bellows to fuzzy and fast before a very small crowd. Too bad for latecomers; the openers covered Townes Van Zandt’s “Waiting Around to Die” which was pretty cool, in addition to their own, including “This Town,” just finished the previous Monday. The sun went down to the Turncoats’ stylish and sometimes sloppy garage and blues set, which included their own gem “Rosemary’s Twist” and the White Stripes’ “The Denial Twist.” Hell yes. And by the time The Ettes were up, the crowd had thickened.

Perhaps my eardrums are just blown out, but it was hard to decipher Coco’s pinched acidic squeal between songs, but whatever; the ambiguity vanished as they hacked out 12 fast garage and bubblegum punk numbers. Lots of bass. Then Chapel Hill rockabilly vets and Third Man artists Dex Romweber Duo mixed bits of Elvis and Johnny Cash and poured it out onstage through the simple guitar and drum combination. Stripped, yes, but also vaguely haunting and just damn good, with Dex on guitar and sister Sara on the set behind him. Credited as a significant inspiration to Jack White, they banged out their Third Man release, “The Wind Did Move,” and Dex did a few solo numbers including “Homicide” and “Death of Me.”

There couldn’t have been a better end to the night than Jacuzzi Boys closing up with a sour and somehow animalistic set full of scuzzy guitars, thundering bass and an obnoxious amount of vocal reverb (reverb reverb). Judging from their style, I don’t think they know it’s not the early ’90s, but they do know a lot about musicianship and having a f**k-ton of energy. Appropriately, D. Watusi could be seen exuberantly head-bobbing in the front row. – Jessica Pace

WOW the brains behind Southern Girls Rock’n’Roll Camp sure come up with some great ideas for fundraising! Tonight will put their most recent scheme to the test, in the form of a second round of their successful benefit series, "Night of the Living Cover Bands II: Electric Boogaloo." Sounds creepy. Don’t be scared though–the bands playing are great, including Powerbrrrd, Bad Cop, Heavy Cream, Take the Power Back, Gentleman Divers, Apollo Up!, Ascent of Everest, Protomen, Kelly Kerr & The Distractions, H.P. Witchcraft, Skybox, and Those Darlins.

They’ll be covering some beloved 90’s material by Fugazi, Radiohead, Weezer, Sleater-Kinney, The Replacements, Guided By Voices, and They Might Be Giants. (I hope somebody plays Particle Man)! With all that variety, it’s totally worth driving to Murfreesboro to see such a spectacle, even at $3.85 per gallon! Check out the facebook event for additional details, and then toss on a pair of Jnco jeans, tighten your scrunchy, and then head on out to Murfreesboro to see a great show for an awesome cause!–Erin Manning

If the world’s gonna end, you may as well be at a good show when it happens. Catch Nashville faves Majestico, Bad Cop and Brandon Jazz + His Armed Forces, boro band Mom and Dad, plus a lo-fi group from way out in Californee, The Growlers. Tomorrow night at The End, kids.

It’s a 14-song compilation featuring southern rock, funk and metal from boro bands performing live for a studio audience at Walnut House Studios. Walnut House joined u with local entertainment publication Murfreesboro Pulse to put this album together, which features Sky Hi and The Incredible Heat Machine among others. Key tracks: “Baby Blue” by C.J. Vaughn and Highway 5, “Flight of the Blue Parrot” by Donovan Dailey, “Tornado” by Sky Hi, “Beale St. Holiday” by The Jake Leg Stompers and “Uneasy: The Crossing Guard” by Emery Reel.

You can re-live all of those wild nights at raves and dubstep shows without taking drugs…Not that you would do that at a rave or a dubstep show. Whatever.
