Last time we checked in on Safari Room, they had just released their EP Actual Feelings, and had spent quite a bit of time in the studio recording new music. They released some of that music in the form of February’s single "One Day Here", which also included the B-side "The Rain". Now, Safari Room will release an EP of acoustic versions of their songs, which they recorded in a partnership with art conglomerate OOKO Studios, a recording studio and DIY event hosting site based in Berry Hill. The band chose one song from each of their albums to feature on the acoustic EP, with each of them representing a different step forward for them. "Glass Box" from their debut EP represents loneliness and time passing, while "Vices" from the Actual Feelings EP goes happier and more cathartic with the theme of knowing where you need to be. Meanwhile, "Around The Bend" from the album of the same name covers friendships ending, relationships ebbing and flowing, and dealing with the constant shuffle of loss and growth. You can listen to the acoustic versions of these tracks when Safari Room drops the OOKO Session Live EP on April 12th. Take a listen to The Deli’s premiere of the EP below. – Will Sisskind
Molly Tuttle releases new LP “When You’re Ready” on heels of international tour
Singer-songwriter Molly Tuttle cleaned up the awards last year, winning the Guitar Player of the Year prize from the International Bluegrass Music Association and the Americana Music Association. Now, Tuttle has released her debut album, When You’re Ready, a showcase of her flatpicking style and personal lyricism which presents in packaged form the music that has helped to sell out shows in both the US and the UK. Tuttle released When You’re Ready just before a grand hometown show at The Basement East; days after the release, she played shows at the Savannah Music Festival and here in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry. Tuttle takes to the sky to perform shows in the UK throughout April; she’ll return to the States to play shows and festivals throughout the spring. Take a listen to When You’re Ready below. – Will Sisskind
A Deli Premiere: The Ivins release music video for new single “Certain”
Last month, The Deli teased the release of a new single from Nashville alt-rock up-and-comers The Ivins, who have already seen success from having their music played on FOX Sports and in quite a few Spotify playlists. Now, "Certain" has dropped across all streaming platforms, and a music video showing the band rocking out to the new track has materalized on YouTube. While the music video captures the energy of the band’s electrifying performance, you’ll find that there’s more where that came from live. Catch The Ivins at New Faces Nite at The Basement East on April 9th, where they’ll play alongside some of the city’s other fine local acts such as Mariela, Morgan Wade, and Jon Worthy & the Bends. – Will Sisskind
Oginalii play The Basement 04.05 to release new LP “Cause and Affection”
If it seems like it’s been a while since you heard from Oginalii, you might want to clean out your ears. They’ve stormed across the Rust Belt over the past few months playing shows in support of their upcoming album Cause and Affection. To mark the release, they’ll play The Basement on April 5th, which is when the album will drop wherever you get your music. Back in November, The Deli wrote about "Forgotten Kindness", a single from the album which highlighted the intense sound that main shredder Emma Hoeflinger crafted to complement the call to empathy in her lyrics. Just last month, the band released "Light As A Feather", a darker track about managing and struggling to cope with anxiety in a healthy way. Take a listen to "Light As A Feather" below, and catch Oginalii and Cause and Affection at The Basement on April 5th. – Will Sisskind
The Smoking Flowers come home to The 5 Spot on 04.13
The old adage goes: Couples who rock together stay together. And The Smoking Flowers, made up of Kim and Scott Collins, have rocked together in love and in music for two decades. Anyone close to Nashville’s underground scene knows the Collins’ rootsy music, and probably knows the recent story of Kim’s battle and triumph over breast cancer. Her holistic recovery, along with a tour with Scott across the country in their Volvo 240 station wagon, led to two albums: 2018’s rousing release Let’s Die Together, and the upcoming juxtaposing acoustic album Snowball Out Of Hell. After a few years of bouncing from state to state, the Smoking Flowers are coming home to Nashville to play a set at The 5 Spot on April 13. It will be a celebration of Kim’s good health, of the Smoking Flowers’ new tunes, and of the love the Collinses share for music, for life, and for each other. Check out the music video for "Here 4 U Now" from Let’s Die Together below. – Will Sisskind

If you have any familiarity with the Nashville synth scene whatsoever, you may have seen a show including either Kytoon or Basic Printer. The show begins at 5:00; come early and prepare yourself for an electrifying evening of music sans any electric instruments. LUTHI releases funky twin-single “Episode One” on 03.29
LUTHI likes to call their music "Cumberland funk", but "boogie circus" will work in a pinch. The seven-piece band provides a sound in which you’ll find both terms equally accurate. On their release Episode One — the first in a series of twin-singles to come out in 2019 — LUTHI brings two new songs full of their ability to get you in the mood to dance wherever you listen. The premiere new track on the single, "Sleepwalkin", has a beat and horns which would wake the dead, and the studio version of the live staple "Out Of This World" pushes all of the energy of the band’s stage antics through your headphones. Episode One drops after a productive past year, during which LUTHI performed over 80 shows, released their debut full-length album Stranger, and played a handful of shows at SXSW 2019. Watch the band perform "Sleepwalkin" below. – Will Sisskind
Anana Kaye releases “Blueberry Fireworks” video; plays The Crying Wolf 04.23
If I told you, "Hey, Anana Kaye‘s "Blueberry Fireworks" sounds a lot like a lost Kate Bush track," you’d say, "You always say that a female artist with an idiosyncratic voice and a slow art rock feel sounds like Kate Bush." But Kaye, along with musical conspirator Irakli Gabriel, mark Bush as an influence, along with other soulful artists of the past such as Bowie, Leonard Cohen, and Nick Cave. "Blueberry Fireworks" and its music video touch on subjects of alienation and isolation, along with a futile search for identity, with mannequins and fruit involved in the mix. Kaye’s second album Detour will drop later this year, and she and Gabriel will play The Crying Wolf on April 23rd. Take a look at the music video for "Blueberry Fireworks" below. – Will Sisskind
Michelle LeBlanc releases single “A Good Man” on 04.05
Songwriter Michelle LeBlanc releases her newest single "A Good Man" on April 5th, following up her 2018 debut EP A Man Like You. The folk artist’s newest song matches the passion and grit of past singles such as "B.T.W.", but contains a spacey atmosphere within its almost four-minute length that might remind listeners of Mazzy Star or Cat Power. LeBlanc comes to Nashville from New York; on her website, she posts often about her observations on tarot, an art which helped her make the big decision to make the move away from her old life and her past relationship. "A Good Man" touches on that story, but also on the hope that perhaps LeBlanc can find her old kind of love again, even in a semi-new town. Take a listen to "B.T.W.", a cut from A Man Like You, below. – Will Sisskind
A Deli Premiere: Stacey Randol releases music video for “Songs in the Soil”
You may have noticed — if you’re an avid reader of the Deli — that we wrote about songwriter Stacey Randol‘s new LP Songs in the Soil earlier this month. We now have a special premiere to announce from that album: Randol has released the music video for the title track. You might find yourself confused watching the video, as the song’s psych groove and the film grain — along with Randol’s flowing white and earth-toned floral dresses — may make you think that you’re watching something from the Sixties. But this was indeed made in the late 2010s, and it continues a trend of indie artists releasing music videos made on film. Randol’s song calls for this aesthetic, and as you’ll see in the music video, they make a perfect match. Take a look at the video for "Songs in the Soil" below. – Will Sisskind
The Prescriptions to release debut album “Hollywood Gold” on 04.05
Straddling the lines between early grunge and indie rock, The Prescriptions package their unique sound in the form of Hollywood Gold, their debut album set to launch on April 5th via Single Lock Records. The group have just come from performing at SXSW following a wave of fresh buzz since their formation several years ago. Their first album showcases the diversity in their songwriting; the title track has the sound of Wilco with the slight harmonica touch of John Popper, while "Broken Wing" has a hint of Neil Young. The Prescriptions have shows in Atlanta and Birmingham in May; stay tuned for their next performance at home in Nashville. Until then, take a listen to "Broken Wing" below. – Will Sisskind
King Calaway releases music video for “World For Two”
While King Calaway have clout in the mainstream music scene — with solo careers, American Idol appearances, and international performances under each of the members’ belts — their debut self-titled album established them as one of Nashville’s newest bands on the rise. The band’s first single "World For Two" has a sound that layers the soul of Ed Sheeran with the harmony and richness of Little Big Town, a sound that permeates every word and note that comes out of the band’s music. The six-member King Calaway has members from both sides of the Atlantic, so while on a surface listen their songs might sound like pure Americana, there is a universal appeal to them that will delight fans of all good music around the globe. Take a look at the music video for "World For Two" below. – Will Sisskind
