The South has a deeply-rooted history, and the music that draws from it contains a certain darkness that lingers under the shade of mossy oaks, at the bottom of old drinking wells and in the pages of generations-old Bibles. Music City-based Americana singer/songwriter Sara Syms has captured that Southern heritage heartache and injected it into her rendition of Robert Johnson’s classic song "Crossroads."
The single showcases Syms’ beautifully heavy-hearted vocals atop an acoustic guitar, distant guitar wails and the crackling of an open flame.
We at The Deli are proud to premiere the music video for Sara Syms’ "Crossroads." Watch the Nashville-inspired video below and listen for Syms’ upcoming album Way Back Home to be released later this year. -Caroline Bowman
Dubbed "The festival for people who don’t like festivals," Wildwood Revival is stripping down the summer fest to create a refreshing, intimate, homespun cultural experience.
Nestled in the rolling hills outside of Athens, GA, Wildwood Revival will feature local food and goods vendors, camping on a historic 30-acre farm, a Saturday night dance party and, of course, amazing live music. The lineup blurs the country/rock line with acts like American Aquarium, Water Liars, Tall Tall Trees and Nashville’s very own Blackfoot Gypsies.

3. If you could pick any band to cover your music, who would it be?
Definitely my Uncle Tommy’s band. They play Blues Night every 3rdThursdayof the month at The Strike & Spare Family Fun Bowling Center. You should totally check it out! They have this great 2 for 1 deal on Boneless Buffalo Bleu Cheese Wings. Yum! Yum! Yum!
Anyway, they’re sound is really eclectic, they play the greats from Stevie Ray Vaughn all the way to Eric Clapton. You should totally check them out, they’re a hoot. One time they all wore these funny parrot hats that said "Margarita-ville" and then, you guessed it, they played "Margarita-ville". They’re so silly!
But Uncle Tommy also writes his own tunes. Could I send you guys a demo?
Can we be a bong rip? If not, a Trashcan (2 oz vodka, 2 oz white rum, 2 oz gin, 2 oz triple sec, 2 oz Blue Curacao liqueur, 1 can Red Bull energy drink)
3. If you could pick any band to cover your music, who would it be?

On a cloud of contagious rhythms, jazzy bass lines, pop-esque keys and gritty guitar, Whoa Dakota gave a soulful, engaging performance worthy of a standing ovation and a CD purchase.

Them Vibes recently dropped their new single "Mamma’s Gotta Secret," in anticipation of the September 8th release date of their EP. The single is just as soaked in swampy 70’s nostalgia as their previous work, and almost evoke a little Kings of Leon in the hook. Richard Dodd has come on board as producer for this album, to lend the same expertise he has contributed to previous clients that include, but are not limited to, Tom Petty, George Harrison, The Civil Wars, Kings of Leon (ah-HA!), Counting Crows and Wilco. We’re sure he had a the same field day channeling their down’n’dirty cheekiness that we’ve had every time we’ve caught their show, one of which is THIS Saturday, August 8th, when they headline Tomato Arts Fest. With absolutely no cover to get over to the Xfinity Main Stage at 8pm, there’s little reason not to get out and enjoy some of our favorite Nashville carousers. In the meantime, take a listen to “Mamma’s Gotta Secret.” –Terra James-Jura
