Riley Moore is Nashville’s newest alt country “Wandering Man”

Posted on:

The trope of the wandering musician is a familiar one. We’ve all heard the Allman Brothers’ "Ramblin’ Man" or Dion’s "The Wanderer" or even more recently, Chris Stapleton’s "Traveller". But the longevity of this trope shows the reality of the hard life of a musician on the road. Nashville’s Riley Moore took this trope and lived it out like no other however when he toured 1,600 miles from Portland to Nashville ON FOOT. Perhaps inspired by that experience, Moore is now sharing throwback country single "Wandering Man" ahead of his album Vagrant due out in June. Check out the song below. And if you missed him at The Basement this week, catch Riley Moore the next time he wanders through town! – Chris Thiessen

Kellen of Troy is very alive on indie rock debut “Posthumous Release”

Posted on:

Formerly a fiddle player for The Apache Relay, Kellen Wenrich has struck out on his own as Kellen of Troy. His debut full-length Posthumous Release offers self-reflective lyricism through a fusion of indie pop, rock, and folk that draws strongly from the melodic influences of The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and occasionally ’50s rock & roll, situating Wenrich nicely beside contemporaries Lord Huron and Kurt Vile. Check out the album below and be sure to look out for the next time Kellen of Troy is in town! – Chris Thiessen

Patzy debuts with dreamy single “Pat’s Chord Pool”

Posted on:

If you haven’t heard of Patzy yet, well, that’s because there’s not a whole lot to say yet. Their About page consists of "Patzy are some friends who play music in Nashville, TN. But hey, they share a name with the guy that bangs coconuts together in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. So that’s pretty neat. On a more important note, Patzy has debuted their first single, "Pat’s Chord Pool," a dreamy piece of psych pop drenched in reverb and orchestral tendencies. Check out the single below and be sure to look out for their Opus Uno coming out this Spring. – Chris Thiessen

Ross Cooper delivers authentic country on “I Rode The Wild Horses”

Posted on:

Covering country artists here at the Deli is definitely an anomaly for us. However, country artists that are actually cowboys is also an anomaly. Before becoming a full-time musician, Ross Cooper did the whole bareback riding and rodeo thing until an injury ended that career. Luckily for him (and for us), he can put out some good music. On I Rode The Wild Horses, Cooper delivers authentic songwriting and country music that would fit next to contemporaries like Margo Price. Check out the title track below and catch Ross Cooper at Grimey’s on March 12th at 6 PM! – Chris Thiessen

Szlachetka delivers heartwarming heartland rock on “Heart of My Hometown”

Posted on:

His name may look hard to pronounce, but the heartland rock and americana delivered by Szlachetka (pronounced SLA-HET-KA) is easy to love. February marked the release of Szlachetka’s debut full length Heart of My Hometown which blends sweet, heartwarming folk ballads ("Wildflowers on the Highway") with the type of crunchy rock tracks you’d expect from vintage Tom Petty ("Until That Echo"), all wrapped up in a modern package a la Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit. If you missed him at 3rd & Lindsley last week, make sure to check out the record! And listen to "Heart of My Hometown" below. – Chris Thiessen

Nashville’s Oddnote rocks hard on self-titled debut

Posted on:

Just formed last summer, five-piece rock outfit Oddnote is packing a punch with their self-titled debut. Seamlessly combining hard-hitting blues rock (see "Money Comes, Money Goes") with Nirvana/Soundgarden/Foo Fighters-inspired ’90s rock and roll (see "Ice Hell", "Neurons", and the whole album pretty much), the 15 tracks of Oddnote feel like a rocket blast. Make sure to check out the Nashville shoutout on "615" as well! And watch the trippy video for "Money Comes, Money Goes" below! – Chris Thiessen

Just last year, Ron Pope released his seventh studio album Work to much acclaim, even being named one of "10 New Country Artists You Need To Know" by Rolling Stone Country.
