Bedroom poppers thanks for coming moves to NYC (from Chicago), plays Trans-Pecos 07.03

Posted on:

The bedroom pop produced by three-piece thanks for coming sets itself apart for Rachel Brown’s distinct vocals that complement their vivid lyrics, often tackling existential themes (“I’ve got my hand inside my skeleton / trying to make myself into a puppet / so someone else can live my life.”) Their new EP ‘thanks for having me’ was finalized before moving to Brooklyn (from Chicago) earlier this year. The record offers a bare bone, often tongue-in-cheek take on lo-fi that relies on simple arrangements and charming melodies, leaving the listener wanting more. The (very active) band will be playing their next show at the Trans-Pecos on July 3rd. – Lilly Milman

A Deli Premiere: Sundaes’ new single “Alright”

Posted on:

With their new release "Alright," Sundaes lives up to the title of Nashville Artist of the Month. The detached vocals and simple, yet refined lyrics ("My shadow walks with me, he keeps me company / he’s alright, too") bear a striking similarity to early work by Lou Reed on albums like VU, although accompanied by a more modern instrumentation (and proper drums!). "Alright" is the final track to be released from the self-titled EP, which is set to come out on Wednesday, June 21st on Bandcamp– Lilly Milman

Saturday 06.24 – The Revolution 16, ft. Leala Cyr, Old Bliss, & Miyachi

Posted on:

This Saturday marks the continuation of the Deli-sponsored Revolution series at the artist-led venue National Sawdust in Williamsburg. In honor of June being New York Music Month, the Mayor’s office will be funding all production costs, making this a free event! The 16th installment of the series will feature performances by Leala Cyr, Olu Bliss, and Miyachi.

Bilingual rapper Miyachi will be headlining the event, with tracks like “BAD & ブジ” (a Bad and Boujee remix, streaming below) and “Wangstyle” that delve into his experience of growing up as a biracial Asian American with an immigrant parent. Berklee College of Music grad Leala Cyr channels a different energy in her performances, honing in on her classical training for trumpet and jazz vocals. Positivity is key for Alt-Soul singer Olu Bliss, whose song “Norm Life” (streaming below) tackles serious issues while retaining the message that one must keep pushing forward. – Lilly Milman

The Bad Signs expertly navigate a dream world in “Blue Love”

Posted on:

Watching the official video for “Blue Love” by the Nashville-based The Bad Signs is like stepping into a dream world. The bellowing, echoing harmonies are a nod to the powerhouse duo Beach House, while the lyricism and subtle twang of the lead vocals carve out a space for the track in the Nashville scene. The monochromatic video is surreally minimalistic, matching the aesthetic of the track perfectly. Watch the video for “Blue Love” streaming below. –Lilly Milman

LittleBoyBigHeadonBike releases record at AS220 on 06.23

Posted on:

God Damn Wonderland is the latest LP by uber-productive Providence-based lo-fi folk artist LittleBoyBigHeadonBike (aka William Orchard). Although the LP will be not available until June 23rd, a few singles have already been released—like “It Was Alright (your heart was shining through your eyes last night)”, a poetic musing on being left behind. This song differentiates itself from the typical singer-songwriter piece with its complex instrumentals (William Orchard plays keyboards, guitar, and bass on this track) and full harmonies. The album release show will be held in Providence at AS220 on June 23rd. – Lilly Milman

Tyger’s 80s inspired synth pop at Berlin on 06.17

Posted on:

Producer and songwriter Jordan Moser channels ’80s nostalgia in his fun synthpop project Tyger. He puts a new spin on it, though, with the addition of electric guitars, violin, and even a vocoder, all intertwweaving with the genre’s stock synth pads and drum machines. His repetitive lyrics (like “I really need a friend, / I really need a friend tonight” from “Need a Friend”) feature a strong rhythmic component, and seem to intentionally leave center stage to his big imaginative arrangements. Tyger will be playing a live show on June 17th at Berlin NYC. Check out "On the Radio," our favorite track from his debut EP, streaming below. – Lilly Milman
