One of the hottest bands on the internet, Vancouver’s Teen Daze, has partnered with our very own Houses to create a track called “Destiny”. The publicist for Teen Daze made it sound like there will be more to come from this exciting combination.

This week’s Giant System video feature one of my favorite new bands in the Village. The band will be performing at Lincoln Hall on July 14th.

From our Open Blog: Paskey
Paskey makes something along the lines of new-wave alternative pop-rock. Influences orbit The Killers, R.E.M., U2, New Order and Joy Division. Imagine rhythmic programming, synths, echoing guitar lines, hushed vocals. A modern artist with a summer cottage in 1987. Just released a video for "These Saturday Nights" that was recorded on a hundred-dollar camera and edited over four evenings. For a limited time you can download the latest album, "What Goes Up," for free from the band’s website.
Kindred
This week Jenny Gillespie put her new album Kindred on bandcamp for her fans and the world to stream. The physical edition of the album will be released on July 13th, but you can now become familiar with this new and beautiful album before the release show on July 17th at Martyrs. Kindred picks up where last year’s Light Year album left off, and pushes forward. One of my favorite tracks from the album has to be “Golden Central”. It is an elegant piano ballad in the same vein as Sarah McLaughlin or Tori Amos.
Kindred is a sonically rich album that should garner much national attention. You can see Jenny Gillespie perform at Martyrs on July 17th.
Mirror, Mirror
Highwheel Records announced yesterday that they will be releasing the sophomore album from Unicycle Loves You on September 7th. It’s been two years since the last release from this band, and from the sounds of the first single from the album, “Mirror, Mirror” is pushing forward with their off-kilter brand of psych-pop.
Unicycle Loves You will be performing as part of Sketchbook X at Chopin Theatre on June 25th.
The Joke, The Threat & The Obvious
Crooked Creek Records is releasing the latest album from the most compassionate band in town, The Giving Tree Band on September 21st. The album will be called The Joke, The Threat, and The Obvious, and will be filled with folk, bluegrass, and jam band goodness. Leading up to the release the band will be releasing a series of webisodes explaining the band, it’s history, and the process of the new album.
The Giving Tree Band will be performing at Fitzgerald’s in Berwyn on July 2nd, The Cubby Bear on July 3rd, and at Naperville’s Ribfest on July 4th.
Time to go Skinny Dippin’
I can’t think of a better day to go “Skinny Dippin’”! The new video from Essex Channel has finally been released. The band celebrated the release over the weekend, and are still giving away their entire music catalog for free all this year.
My Own Adventure
For their latest music video Oh My God has recruited Myspace/MTV starlet Miss Tila Tequila. The video follows a very seductive-looking Tila (in her first rock-video cameo) as she investigates provocative sounds coming from a gas-station bathroom.
Oh My God will be performing on the Center Stage at Wicker Park Fest on August 1st.
