If you are of the belief that the illusive "Chicago Sound" should consist of bulked-up blues and barroom brawls than Chicago Stone Lightning Band is the band for you. The band is a shinning example of how to take the genre of blue’s and traditional rock to next level and have a great time while doing it. The band just released their self-titled debut album today for free digitally, and the album is filled with fresh takes blues and soul and rock. My favorite track so far is "Oh No", it’s a little ZZ Top and little John Lee Hooker, but still holds it own as a Chicago Stone Lightning Band track.

The band will be performing at The Hideout on May 12th.

Rabble Rabble will be releasing a new 7" single on May 23rd. The single contains two new tracks, "Why Not"/"Long Hook", that were recorded at Gimmie That Sound Studios.

Rabble Rabble will be headlining a free show at @ Empty Bottle on May 23rd with We Are Hex and Distractions.

Save The Clocktower has released a remix of their track "Into The Fire". The band released their latest LP back in February and they are performing on May 14th at The Abbey with Kid Koala, Cave & Loyal Divide.

Bailiff is trying to finish and release their debut album Red Balloon, but they are looking for a little support. The band has created a kickstarter page and truly deserve the added support. "Bend it like Bailliff"!

As stated in the video the band is planning to release the album on June 4th at Lincoln Hall.

Company of Thieves have released seven live videos from there Logan Square Auditorium show in November of 2009. The band rips through some of their live staples including "Oscar Wilde" and "Pressure". They also touch on the lesser known live track "Even in the Dark". The song above is a track off COTs new album Running From A Gamble out May 17th on Wind Up Records. Although something tells me "Look Both Ways" has grown up a lot since this recording. The whole batch of videos was produced by Hollus frontman Jamison Acker and Company of Thieves.

Local DJ Chrissy Muderbot will be releasing his thrid full-length album Women’s Studies on May 9th through Planet Mu. The first single from the album is the catchy and addictive track "Bussin’ Down". The single was released on April 4th and the video is below.

Chrissy will be celebrating the release on May 26th with a set at Smart Bar. He will also be performing at the Pitchfork Music Festival on July 16th.

Tom Krell (aka How To Dress Well) has really made a name for himself through releasing a lot of great remixes. His latest is an interesting take on d’Eon’s track "Transparency".

How To Dress Well is performing tonight (4/28) as part of Cult Fantasy Rave at Berlin.

Cains & Abels appeared this week on Daytrotter to perform several tracks from their recently released album Call Me Up. The album was released by in January by Positive Beat Records.

Paul Hornschemeir and Bruce Parsons have created a new video that features the track "Soak It Up" by Houses. The video is intended to promote Paul’s new book Life with Mr. Dangerous which will be released on May 24th.
