Arthur Moon plays Baby’s on 07.30 + talks about gear and the creative process

Posted on:

Avant-pop sextet, Arthur Moon, recently released their sonorously boisterous debut EP, Our Head, and since then, the record’s delicate, electro-tinged 5 tracks have been defiantly stuck in our heads. We recently saw the band at a Sofar Sound show and were mesmerized by their performance (check out the video of their Beatles’ cover from that same show, streaming below), so we highly recommend you check them out at their next live performance at Baby’s All Right on July 30th.

Our sister pedal blog Delicious Audio just published this interview where they talk about gear and the creative process.

Field Mouse talks about pedals on Delicious Audio

Posted on:

Philly and NYC-based Field Mouse have been known for their dreamy, shoegazey tunes, but while their hook filled songwriting is still on full display on their latest album, "Episodic," the five-piece’s sound has evolved in a punchier direction, which is a bit more barefaced, and less shrouded by layers of fuzz and reverb. Our sister blog Delicious Audio recently spoke to the band about the tonal shift, and what kind of gear goes into the making of their music – check out the link below!

Premiering Lt Headtrip’s zany video for ‘Neck Right’

Posted on:

Karma Kids Co-Founder Lt. Headtrip raps with the voice of a professional wrestler.  It’s fitting, considering the words he cobbles together for his frenetic verses.  Listening to him rap, you can imagine him tearing off shirt after shirt to intimidate his adversaries.  And with lines like, “I’m dressing in the Emperor’s hand-me-down bathroom gown pants and crown – I’m fancy now” he’s got a firm handle on the imagery he pile-drives into your skull.  “Neck Right” is the first video from his new album ‘Comedy of the Filthbeast‘ dropping today on his Karma Kids label.

NYC Record of the Month: Evolfo – “Last of the Acid Cowboys” + live at PizzaFest tonight (06.22)

Posted on:

Brooklyn-based Evolfo plays garage rock with the sort of heart, grit, and flourishes you’d expect from a group of vinyl store junkies with a massive b-side collection. The band, an ensemble of music school students who originally united (to much acclaim) in Boston, crafts tunes that play like a well-curated list of late 60s-70s cult hits. They’ve created a reputation for songs that are visceral, infectious, and immediately bewitching, and their most recent release, "Last of the Acid Cowboys," does not disappoint. From the crunch of opening track "Vision of Sin," to the bluesy saunter of "Moon Eclipsed the Sun," the record manages to cover a lot of ground but never relinquishes its too-cool, old-school vibes. Tracks like "Frank the Fiddler" add a swirling, synth-led mystique to the album but the core of the LP is the brash and brazen garage rock fun pulsing throughout it. All in all, Last of the Acid Cowboys is an electric record that puts a much-welcomed twist on revivalism. – Olivia Sisinni

Guerilla Toss unveils two new tracks + talks about gear on Delicious Audio

Posted on:

Brooklyn via Boston avant-punks Guerilla Toss just unveiled two new tracks from their upcoming release on DFA Records, "GT ULTRA" – check them out below. The band is ready to enter the next stage of their career with a full length that steps up the production values by several notches, broadening the act’s appeal without affecting the "edge factor" that allowed them to build a cult following since they started releasing wildly experimental, dissonant and noisy records back in 2012. Our sister blog Delicious Audio is running a Q&A with Guerilla Toss’ about their gear and creative process, check it out!

Birch releases EP “Not Human” at Gold Sounds on 6/10

Posted on:

For those seeking a dreamy respite from the terrors of the world, Birch will release their new EP Not Human on June 9th, with a show at Gold Sounds on the 10th. Multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Michelle Birsky stands at the helm of Birch, teaming up with bandmate Mat Towles to provide an ethereal pop to help listeners transcend above their worries. The lyrics on Not Human deal with society and politics today, and in a time where music seems like one of the only escapes from reality, Birch’s EP provides a place for listeners to withdraw without losing ground. If you want a taste of what that feels like, you can stream Not Human below right now; if you like what you hear, go see Birch live on Saturday. – Will Sisskind
