Amnesia, the debut LP the trio of Amanda X, is a record that immediately caught my attention, and with each successive listen, that sonic bond grows stronger. It gives off a close to the vest personal vibe that varies in tone from grey and ominous to bright and promising, consistently moving free in a pop-punk environment in which the individual instrumental elements are tightly woven developing a cohesive sound that’s easy to gravitate toward and rough enough to sink into with enough air to emerge from. Tonight, Amanda X opens for the street-level, dirt-under-your-nails, earnest, sludgy melodic punk of Parkay Quarts; however, the event at PhilaMOCA is sold out so hopefully you planned ahead.
