One of the better traveled artists to live and play in Brooklyn, Aly Tadros has toured throughout Europe, North America and Egypt extensively over the past four years, with her ukelele and steel string in hand. The folk artist has earned comparisons to the likes of Norah Jones for her wistful and breathy voice, but her wanderlust spirit conveys traditions far removed from what you’ll usually find in a singer-songwriter’s record.
Her sophomore LP ‘The Fits‘ is her widest statement yet. From the largess of opener ‘Silence and The Truth,’ to the churning ‘Not a Drop,’ she explores an intersection of classical and acoustic guitar shapes, wrapped under an intimate and honest lyricism. Most recently, she sings the bittersweet ballad ‘Whim’ alongside fellow folkie Ben Balmer. Spanning two countries, the song’s nomadic recording process evokes the personality of an artist never content to stay in one place for too long.
