A Benefit for Maasai Rising at MilkBoy Philly Sept. 8

It’s always good to see bands and artists aligning themselves with organizations outside the purview of life in Philly. Tonight’s show at MilkBoy Philly has a particularly far reach. A benefit for Maasai Rising will raise money for the non-profit organization to continue its goals of helping all members of the Maasai Tribe in Kenya and Tanzania, especially the empowerment of their young women. The cheery indie pop of Arrah and the Ferns, who is also our featured Tuesday Tune-Out act on September 18 at PhilaMOCA, will be leading the pack this evening, and they’ll be joined by the light-hearted rock of Sunset Recorder and the seductive vocal stylings of Kate FoustMilkboy Philly, 1100 Chestnut St., 9:30pm, $10, 21+ – Alyssa Greenberg
