NYC Artists on the rise: Threats keep downtown punk tradition alive

If you’re into dirty underground Rock n’ Roll and aren’t fussed on spilled beer, blown eardrums, and packed bars you’ve never heard of then chances are you’ll like Threats – a band that this year made it in our Best of NYC Poll for Emerging Artists, in the Revival Rock category. Despite having a barely there online presence and an album only available on Vinyl, Threats have a solid following in the downtown scene. Bonded by a love of booze and music, the band is fronted by Jack Ridley (Drowners‘ guitarist), with Drowners lead singer Matt Hitt on bass and Paulo Dell’Olio on drums. The sound is fast and loose, rough warehouse punk revival with subtle surf elements. With great songs, pro musicians and an insane live show these guys are definitely worth a look. Follow the band on Twitter and when and if Threats decide to play a show you might hear about it. Listen to i wanna get high now below. – Bianca Mascheretti
