Cousins Gee Moolah & Trons of the production/emcee combination known as The Wurxs will be making a somewhat rare appearance at Johnny Brenda’s this evening. The duo is probably best known for its collaborations with some of Philly’s best rhymeslayers like The Roots’ Black Thought, who was featured along with fellow Roots associate Truck North on the track “Visions Polarized,” as part of the group’s WURXSWEDS series. However, tonight they’ll be stepping into the forefront live on stage at Johnny Brenda’s, weaving elements of smooth soul with the forward get-down drive of funk, all while conscious confident flows grab the reins to steer your ears as your body instinctually sways. The Wurxs will be sandwiched on this evenings’s bill by Brooklyn’s Fresh Daily and headliner LA’s People Under The Stairs, whose latest album (and 9th overall) The 12 Step Program was just released last month.
