The tandem of Bret Buckman and Ethan Cohen, a.k.a. Way to Go Moses, with recent addition Greg Whitney, setup shop this evening at Kung Fu Necktie. Their self-titled debut serves as a calming peaceful injection of folk rock. The vocals wrap around each other in a reinforcing embrace, developing harmonic texture while avoiding the tendency of turning cheesy because the instrumentation provides a perpetual jangly moving aesthetic that plays into the thoughtful lyrical integrity, keeping the sound crisp. The bill will also be supported by local psych-punk/pop trio Seismic Thrust, whose sound is catchy while remaining raw around the edges, and headlined by the LA-based duo Meghan Toohey (The Weepies, Lenka, Schuyler Fisk) and bassist Nicole Fiorentino (Smashing Pumpkins, Veruca Salt, Spinnerette), a.k.a. The Cold and Lovely. Kung Fu Necktie 1250 N. Front St., 8pm, $8, 21+ – Michael Colavita
