Philly psych/garage rock outfit Needle Points promises a real late-night party at Kung Fu Necktie for its record release show in honor of the band’s latest 7”, Cripple Street (PaperCup Music), which features two new tracks (“Cripple Street” and “Black Hurricane”). The group’s new material reveals a poppier side of the five-piece, with more of a folk rock influence than on their debut EP, Bom Tugangu. Producing similar kinds of conscious-expanding jams as this evening’s headliner will be local crew The Orange Drop and The Golden Brass (from Brooklyn). It’s a special night for The Orange Drop as well. Lead guitarist Blaze Kozlik has been out as of late with a broken finger; this show will serve as his return to the stage. The Orange Drop, which released its first EP, Drone Pop, in January, is currently working on the group’s next. As for tonight’s bill, you can count on some serious good vibes and maybe even some modern-day hippies. Come out, “turn on, tune in, drop out,” and get down!
