When most people turn 21 they have a gathering among friends at several bars, dance at some clubs, and have a night of plentiful libations. But when you’re friends with bands in the local music community like Stella Sima is, it just makes sense to pack in some of your favorites in a DIY space to celebrate the night away. The Homophones will be taking time from the studio where they’ve been working on their first album as a solidified band. They’ll be filling the evening with plenty of balloon fun, slick dance moves, and their unique brand of happy melancholy. TJ Kong and The Atomic Bomb will also be bringing their recently unveiled dirty mixes from their upcoming album to life on this bill full of local buddies. And since El Fuego just hit the studio to finish up work on a new EP, they should have some scorching new material as well. El Fuego’s jokester Joe Reno will be pulling double duty tonight when he joins Julia Rainer in jamming out as part of their shredding blues rock outfit Flamingo. The band Headshop will be a merging of Illipsis and The Great Vibration while Mountjoy will bring it home with songs from their debut release You Keep Me. So the entertainment is covered for the evening. Now it’s up to you to bring some alcoholic beverages, a little donation, and plenty of good vibes for the birthday girl (and a gift wouldn’t hurt either).
