Just wanted to give you a heads up and to share some brighter news with you on this dreary day. The Deli Magazine will be presenting two benefit shows for Rock to the Future on Saturday, April 30 at Danger Danger Gallery with Power Animal, Algernon Cadwallader, Hop Along, and Conversations with Enemies and on Saturday, May 14 at Circle of Hope with K Records’ Jason Anderson, Joe Jack Talcum (The Dead Milkmen), When I Was 12, Ghost/Light, and The Chelsea Kills!
If you aren’t already familiar with the organization, Rock to the Future combines and provides an afterschool music education and youth development program at no cost to students. It is the only program of its kind in the city. It is open to all Philadelphia students ages 9-14. The program focuses on incorporating music education with academics to create success in school and in life by improving cognitive development, learning capacity, socialization skills, self-esteem and creative thinking. Students learn to play an instrument – their choice of guitar, bass guitar, drums, vocals or keyboards – and also receive homework help. Please come out and support a worthwhile program. Help keep Philly’s proud music tradition alive while saving the future of our community. We already know that our government won’t so now it is up to us! Much love! – The Deli Staff
