Philly Opry Returns w/Birdie Busch & The Silver Ages at JB’s April 22

Local folkster Birdie Busch keeps the tradition of storytelling alive through heartfelt harmonies and honest lines. Still wowing listeners with the depth of last year’s Everyone Will Take You In (Be Frank Records), which she received an Independent Music Award for best college label release (album or EP), Birdie Busch and her band of troubadours’ musical musings possess a sense of closeness or intimacy often lost these days in the anthems of more popular acts like Fleet Foxes or Portland’s Blitzen Trapper. Set to perform tonight at her 2nd Annual Philly Opry, Birdie Busch, with the melodic vocals of “Drunk by Noon” and the lyrical craft of “Trap Door”, will prove to move showgoers in a lasting and emotive way. She’ll be joined this evening by Brooklyn’s The Deliberators and The Silver Ages (a local choral group made up of some of Philly’s finest indie rock/pop musicians). Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 9pm, $12, 21+ – Dianca Potts
