Separately Hezekiah Jones and The Spinning Leaves are easily regarded as the cities two premiere folk bands. But together the Philly Folk Parade founders have been performing together in perfect harmony for quite some time. The uplifting, ethereal vibes that have resonated from these artists joining in union has led to the inception of “Hezekiah Leaves & The Spinning Joneses”, who have recently released their debut collaborative album on Mad Dragon Records. The bands are set to celebrate its release tonight during a special album party at Bookspace (and the $12 entry fee will also get you a copy of the album). They’ll be joined by longtime friends and fellow members of the Philly Folk Parade, Joshua Park and Nick Esposito of The Savage Detectives. And Friday the 13th will be far from unlucky once special guests The Extraordinaires take the stage. The band recently bid farewell to founding member and bassist Matt Gibson who left to join Man Man, and welcomed new member Adam Ravitz. And tonight they’ll be ready to bring their special blend of supercharged pop music with folk sensibilities to liven up the festivities.
