Hermit Thrushes, Scott Churchman, and Friends Weird Out at Bookspace July 29

Though the much-beloved DIY space the OX has never made the come back that we had hoped would happen and currently appears to be nearing its final days, its residents and former residents are still helping to shape the local art community for the better. One of the last remaining original inhabitants, Greg Johnson, was approached to host a lineup that he couldn’t pass up at Bookspace. Tonight’s bill will be anchored by the frenetic avant-folk sounds of Hermit Thrushes (you can check out and download their Daytrotter Session that was posted this past March HERE) and the dark ghostly folk of Scott Churchman (who should have a new album coming out in the near the future). Imported for the evening are Baltimore’s noisy art rockers Dope Body, D.C.’s experimental pop outfit Hume, and Brooklyn’s avant garde lo-fi sextet Cloud Becomes Hands. The lineup is sure to be as unique as the venue it is being held in.
