There really are so many options for things to do this weekend, and PiLam’s 34th Annual Human BBQ seems to be flying under the radar more than usual this year with the inaugural run of Liberty Fest. The badasssss Screaming Females will be headlining this wevening as they tour in support of their fifth album Ugly, and NY’s Young Magic will be impressing the hoards of drunken Penn kids with songs from their buzz worthy album Melt. But the mega fest features a lineup of 13 more bands playing for just $15, and if past Human Barbecues are any indication, then they might just have a few surprises planned (the secret Dead Milkmen set from a few years back most likely still fills all who were there with some good memories). While Sunny Ali & The Kid test music and racial barriers with their electrifying Pakistani cowboy rock, Norwegian Arms will impress with their lo-fi mandolin-driven ditties as they preview tracks from their upcoming LP. Dry Feet will rock you into a frenzy with their fast-paced surf punk, and Catnaps will sooth you with their melodic, heartwarmingly catchy tunes. The Tough Shits play their first home show since coming back from tour, and will have you sloshing around to their garage rock anthems in no time. Especially since The Shakes will be on hand to deliver an energetic set of under-two-minute assaults. This years barbecue will also feature the German hip hop of MC Digga (a.k.a. Ben Morgan), the three pronged bass assault of Acid Kicks, the alt rock anthems of Welter, and so much more. Check out the set times HERE.
