Spring 2012 Art Star Craft Bazaar at Penn’s Landing May 12 & 13

Still trying to find the perfect gift for mom? Fortunately, the Spring 2012 Art Star Craft Bazaar at Penn’s Landing has got you covered. Today and Tomorrow, over 140 local and national vendors who specialize in all kinds of multimedia art will be selling their goods along the waterfront. But even if you have your Mother’s Day shopping taken care of, head down anyway to scope out the handmade goods, enjoy food from some local restaurants, and check out some of the many bands that will be playing the Philebrity sponsored stage.

When Attia Taylor headlines this afternoon, it will be a nice warm-up for when she opens for cultish Polyphonic Spree at the TLA in two weeks. And since Oh! Pears are scheduled to play right before her, it might be a good opportunity for Taylor and Corey Duncan to perform their collaboration “Born in Clouds.” Josh Olmstead’s (BC Camplight, Summer Fiction) new project Archives of Oblivion will likely be mixing it up between Grooved Ware 40th Anniversary homage to albums from the 70s and some of their own original material. Add in the whimsical blues folk of Joe Duffy, the female-fronted alt folk of Swedeland, and the harmonious melodies of Olive Juice, and you’ll have a chilled out day along the waterfront.

Bring a pair of dancing shoes on Sunday since City Rain are still delivering the supercharged vibrations brought on by their latest EP Watch Out, and Blayer Pointdujour & The Rockers Galore will definitely feed off the energy when they headline and play some of the reggae and hip hop heavy beats from their debut EP Port-Au-Prince. And if you’re looking for a soul-cleansing real good time, be sure to come out early to enter the church of The Homophones where frontman Jason Ferraro will be groovin’ along with you while the band plays some of their newer material from their Grey Ghost EP as well as unreleased tunes like “I Feel Your Pain.” The rest of Sunday will be rounded out by the Hawaiian vibrations of Slowey + The Boats, the panty-dropping harmonies of Market East, and the grunge-y Southern rock of Sherman the Band.
