Former lead guitarist of The Trouble with Sweeney and founding member of The Silver Ages, Heyward Howkins has really come into his own with the release of his solo debut LP The Hale & Hearty (which you can stream in its entirety via Spinner). From the fine production work of Chet Delcampo (an artist who has been linked to such greats as Smokey Robinson, Kid Congo Powers, and David Lovering), to the merged melodies of British twee and Americana roots, it’s an impressive album that will resonate for years to come. While the artist had an album release party at Fishtown’s Maas building earlier this month, Howkins will be now having his official post-release celebration at PhilaMOCA tonight which will also feature whimsical Swedish singer-songwriter Sofia Talvik and radiant folk beauty Emily Arin. And along with an impressive lineup of music, the venue will be providing complimentary home-made hard lemonade, Narragansett Lager, and gourmet sandwiches.
