Cerebral Jams From Nick Millevoi at The Khyber March 28

For the uninitiated, Nick Millevoi’s music – solo or with his band Many Arms – can seem about as accessible as a garden overrun with thorn-laden roses. Dissonance and high concept forays into multiple genres are the name of Millevoi’s game, but there are rewards for those who stick with him through the time-signature-defying workouts. Linive, due out this spring, is an astounding collaboration with the Ricart Quartet that finds Millevoi’s nimble guitar stylings buoyed by some truly ferocious avant-jazz drumming. It’s just one of many sides to this Tzadik Records alum, so don’t stop there. Millevoi is joined tonight at The Khyber Pass (who recently just opened their upstairs to live music again) by Drums Like Machine Guns and Heavy Medical, his brethren in arms, as far as the noisier ends of the spectrum go.
