The Naked Sun EP Release Party at Fleisher Art Memorial April 12

The Naked Sun, while still a relatively new band (formed just two years ago in 2011), have managed to create a sound wise beyond their years. Keeping the melodies simple, but the multi-layered instrumentals result in rootsy music with calming complexity. Self-described as “honest rock,” the band gets its relatability from their folk-inspired notes, guitarist Tim Campbell can give a song a nice twang without steering too far into the backcountry. Campbell will also take up the keys on a song or two, lending toward the outfit’s soul. Lead vocalist, and additional guitarist, Drew Harris’ soothing croon and thoughtful lyrics add depth to the music, while bass by Eric Budesa and drums by Dave Gladney represent the backbone of each track – providing the song’s structure and helping to toe the line between folk and rock. Joining The Naked Sun for their Space, Place, and Time EP release party will be the soulful rock outfit, The Way Home, who’ll add a touch of blues to the evening.
