Marc Neibauer, formerly of Eat Your Birthday Cake , headlines the evening tonight at Johnny Brenda’s. With the freshly released LP Don’t Fall Apart, Neibauer demonstrates a knack for creating comfortably easy-coasting melody that mesh well with his conversational vocal style. When coupled with distorted guitar and percussion that provides a constant pulse but reaches a fever pitch in opportune moments, it’s a smooth surface with an edgy underbelly. The dreary noise-folk of Scott Churchman and the weaving acoustic psych-pop of The Fantastic Imagination are also set to perform along with Baltimore folk-pop trio Other Colors.
