The Interest Group Opening for Burnt Ones at KFN July 2

While their musical output may not be on par to what you may like, you can still hear the dreamy tunes of The Interest Group tonight when they perform live at Kung Fu Necktie opening for Burger Records’ Burnt Ones. The local five-piece travel through music history with paisley-shaded sunglasses pulling inspiration from 60’s psych-pop featuring languid boy-and-girl vocals. When we caught them the last time at PhilaMOCA opening for Parenthetical Girls and The So So Glos, founding member Marissa Lesnick had already left the group, and was replaced by May Cote. However, on the band’s Facebook and Soundcloud pages, Lesnick is still credited as being part of the ensemble though that information differs from their Bandcamp. This past spring, The Interest Group did mention that they were working on about twelve tracks for their debut LP. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that it won’t be another case of a local act releasing an album and then breaking up. Well, if your head is already on vacation this week, it shouldn’t hurt to start your Fourth of July festivities early this evening. Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Front St., 8pm, $8, 21+ – H.M. Kauffman
