Doylestown quintet Balance and Composure recently released their second studio album The Things We Think We’re Missing on No Sleep Records. The thirteen-song LP is at once scathing and sympathetic; they are great at being both quiet and loud. The production of it really helps capture the bands dynamics, and was helmed by local knob-turner Studio 4’s Will Yip, who is constantly bolstering his already impressive resume. They’ll be bringing their frenzied alt-rock to Union Transfer tonight to open for another of Yip’s emerging clientele Kingston’s Title Fight, who has been rocking out at YMCA’s since 2003, but they didn’t record their proper debut Shed until signing to SideOneDummy in 2011. Both their first and last year’s Floral Green were recorded with Yip. Given the bands seasoned history, it isn’t surprising that their latest album is fat-free. Vocalist/guitarist Jamie Rhodes delivers gravely melodies on top of a plethora of jagged guitars in a honed and intentional assault. Both acts have been on a month-long jaunt across the country with Bethlehem duo Slingshot Dakota, who will also be supporting the evening along with Cruel Hand.
