Tonight, Kung Fu Necktie ushers in a trio of psychedelic bands, opening the festivities with relative newcomers Drone Ranger. The group employs familiar elements of strange, creating a hazy-dream-like state. However, the overall sounds aren’t held hostage by the weight of trippy vibes; rather the fading vocals and reverb serve as a base. Beneath the mercurial surface, the distant ringing guitar, cosmic keys and light tumbling percussion create a feeling of pop-rock lightness.
