After spending a day with family and copious amounts of food, Sam Vile is following in the steps of his much-lauded brother Kurt. With his band Vilebred, Sam delivers thought-provoking, snarky-laced lyrics placed on an evolving musicality that varies from heavier down and dirty grunge-oriented space-rock to floating open-ended melodic rockers that are further elevated when his half-spoken/sung vocals reach smooth-yet-snarly peaks. Since the textured instrumentation provides an artful environment for the lyrics to reside, Vilebred doesn’t merely tell a story; it transports you to a place.
