There are few bands that can produce the mystic, menacing power that three-piece Northern Liberties has created throughout its discography. Self-titled as “ghost-punk” (sort of a harrowing noise-punk), the group is best experienced live. To watch brothers Justin and Marc Duerr and longtime best friend Kevin Reilly perform is to know them. However, for the past five odd years or so, Northern Liberties, born out of West Philly house shows, has been taken a break from releasing any material. Tonight at Johnny Brenda’s, the band is ending its hiatus, and celebrating the release of the trio’s new album, Errant Ray. Psych/cyber-rock outfit S.T.A.R.W.O.O.D. will also be an entertaining force. Expect killer vocals, intergalactic warrior outfits, and lots of lasers. Hardcore four-piece Westboro Baptist Choir will be kicking off the celebration. Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 9pm, $10, 21+ – Emily DiCicco
