“Commune in real time with a soul from another dimension,” tonight marks the opening night of four-evening consecutive run at Union Transfer, where the creative forces of Pig Iron Theatre Company and Dr. Dog team up for collaborative effort that is has been christened The Dr. Dog Pop Detachment & The Pig Iron Psychedelic Signals Auxiliary Present: Dr. Dog – Swamp Is On. Curated in the 2015 Fringe Festival with support from Knight Foundation and PNC Arts Alive, the band in conjunction with the avant-garde theatre company is attempting to decipher/translate messages from a man named Francis, living in a parallel universe known as the psychedelic swamp. The performance (which is a year in the making) takes place on a stage specially built for the event. Combining Pig Iron Theatre Company’s renowned experimental experience with Dr. Dog’s psych-pop/rock, this magnetizing spectacle will include rare and unreleased recordings, bridging the vast expanse between the here and now and another dimension.
