Weekend Warrior, May 6 – 8

Still managed to miss seeing Queen of Jeans despite The Deli’s diligent coverage of the talented crew? Lucky for you that the month of May not only brings flowers, but also a vibrant bouquet of 60s-style flower-pop every Friday at Bourbon & Branch compliments of our beloved blossoming local artists Queen of Jeans. The band will have a month-long residency at B&B with performances every Friday featuring a different lineup of local acts. This week, we’ll be presenting the pairing their dreamy-textured 60’s girl-group pop with the 80’s new-wave textures of Suburban Living, whose musical interest falls more in line with Disintegration-era Cure but measures up to Queen of Jeans’ love of reverb-soaked pop sensibility. Joining in on the dreamy, poppy forays of the evening will be The Soft Spots, whose attempts to synthesize the best of the worlds results in tunes that are immediately appealing on the surface but derivationally complex. You can also catch Julia Rainer, a Philly singer-songwriter with a gentle, emotive voice and a powerful sincerity. Bourbon & Branch, 705 N 2nd St., 8pm, $10, 21+ – Bryce Woodcock
