Part-time wimps, part-time Righmond rockers, The Wimps bring forth a peculiar blend of 60’s pop, alternative rock, and psychedelia. Listening to “Dream Girl” (the 10th track off their album), something comforting about this band’s rustic sound makes its way inside us. It’s vintage. It’s nostalgic. It’s the 1×12 combo amp spring reverbed guitar tone with a hint of tube crunch, not to mention the twangy, speech-driven vocal stylings of Brent McCormic, topped off with quirky lyrics of empty days and empty wallets. It takes us back to one of our favorite records from yester-millennium: Eric Burdon’s 1964 “House of the Rising Sun”. Take a listen to their full album The Wimps down below. –Ashley Muniz
