Psych-pop quartet Carroll impresses with the release of their sophomore record, As Far As Gardens Grow. The LP reveals serenading vocals, pristine keys, rhythmically vibrant guitars and bass lines, and whimsically-crafted songwriting from the Minneapolis transplants. The album was mixed by Jon Lo (The National, Sharon Van Etten), who was the inspiration behind their relocation, and it is now available via Shattered Orb Records. Carroll will be celebrating its arrival this evening at their Weathervane Music-presented album release party at The Barbary. They’ll also be joined by Brooklyn-based garage-pop trio THICK and Petunia, the solo project from local singer-songwriter John Ryan. The Barbary, 951 Frankford Ave., 7pm, $7-$10, 21+ – Bill McThrill
