After the breakup of rising band Chumped and a deeply involved romantic relationship, frontwoman Anika Pyle found herself in Philly, taking collage classes, writing new music, and starting a new recording project with former Chumped bandmate/drummer Dan Frelly that they eventually named Katie Ellen. The duo began working with Kyle Pulley at The Headroom Philadelphia, laying down the foundation for what would be the band’s forthcoming debut full-length album Cowgirl Blues. The LP is due out this Friday, July 14 via Lauren Records, and you can join Katie Ellen that very same evening to welcome its arrival at PhilaMOCA with Field Mouse and Roger Harvey. You can also now check out the LP’s latest single, "Houses Into Homes," and a Q&A with Pyle and Frelly at Stereogum.
