A Deli Premiere: “Cup b/w Coffee” by Divorce Cop

Portland, Maine’s Divorce Cop sucker-punches you with a unique brand of noise rock, and somehow you are not mad. The band mauls drum sets, deforms basslines, and sings with drunken cheer in its raucous dual single "Cup b/w Coffee." The brand new two-headed sonic monster may be short, but its sound is frightful-delightful fun. "Cup" is unhinged drum pounding accompanied by a sensitive string-instrument melody, together they rise like dirty spume and let drip a lively chorus and a gooey bassline. "Coffee" leans more indie, but keeps the noise high: the track is turbulent, exciting, and the dynamic electric guitar work cannot be overlooked. The dual single release show is set for this evening at the Apohadion Theater in the band’s hometown. The 7" is out now via Salty Speakers, and us here at the deli are thrilled to premiere the tracks for you below. – Rene Cobar
