GrandeMarshall Opening for Freddie Gibbs at Underground Arts Oct. 28

Yes – as the months flash by and the end of another year stands starkly in the distance, one can’t help wonder: Will GrandeMarshall‘s official label album ever see the light of day? Hope continues to glimmer in my eyes and rattle in my ears with his latest video for "Burning Rubber Freestyle," another single off his long-awaited My Brother’s Keeper, which still hasn’t received a drop date from Fool’s Gold. I guess that we’ll just have to hear some of the tracks live tonight at Underground Arts, along with hopefully others from his brilliant 800 and Mugga Man mixtapes, when he opens for hard-livin’, Gary, Indiana badass Freddie Gibbs. This one-two combination is a welcomed pummelling for hip-hop fans, and I’m guessing that the venue’s backstage will surely be filled with a hazy cloud of blunt smoke so don’t expect to get out of the basement at a reasonable hour for work the next day. I suggest that you already start coughing or mentioning that you’re feelin’ some sort of way if you haven’t taken tomorrow off yet. That’s my protip for ya; you can take it or leave it. Underground Arts, 1200 Callowhill St., 8pm, $18, 21+ – Alexis V.
