Cheerleader Gearing Up for Varsity at KFN March 3

Lighthearted psych-pop five-piece Cheerleader is gearing up to make the trek to SXSW this year for the first time. The fledgling outfit only has a handful of shows and songs under its belt, but the band is made up of a group of experienced musicians, who have performed in such acts as Sun Airway, Former Belle and Shorty boy-boy, and has already gathered some nice buzz off its lead single "New Daze," a languid, instantly enjoyable indie-pop ditty that will be appearing on the group’s debut EP. They’ll be returning to Kung Fu Necktie this evening, the site of their first live performance, where they’ll be joined by Newark, DE dream-pop quartet Fiance and garage-psych crew The TeleVibes. Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Front St., 8pm, $5, 21+ – H.M. Kauffman
