Tei Shi just released her second single ‘Nevermind the End,’ and I’m completely hooked. The song takes off from a dream pop canvas of layered harmonies and synth-backed drones, but then brings an R&B sultriness to the party to expand the genre guest list. Moving through rounds of time-stretched groove, with the inviting hook of ‘maybe we can take a ride tonight… ‘, you’ll be nervous about where she might want to take you, but more than willing to do as she says. It’s an unexpected follow-up from a singer who only just began taking off after some great performances at this year’s CMJ fest. Check it out below and see her for the release of new EP ‘Saudade’ on Dec 4 at Mercury Lounge. Mike Levine (@Goldnuggets)
We added this song to The Deli’s playlist of Best mellow tracks by emerging NYC artists – check it out!
