The Hush Now — The Making of “Memos”

I am heading to Mad Oak Studios to meet up with the lads from The Hush Now to observe the proceedings as they lay down new material for what will become Memos their third full-length release.

It’s a good night to drop in on the band. They’ve just finished a series of sessions that saw them nail take after take and finish a remarkable 13 songs in barely two days of marathon recording. They are, consequently, in rather high spirits.

The kitchen is where I find everyone upon my arrival. Drummer Barry Marino, keyboardist John Millar, lead singer Noel Kelly, bassist Pat MacDonald and guitarist Adam Quane are all hanging between takes. The kitchen area is small; it seems all the more so considering the hulking edifice of the studio’s exterior.

I am not the only visitor to the studio….
