When I talked to Chidera "Chiddy" Anamege and Noah "Xaphoon Jones" Beresin, a.k.a the smashing alt-hip hop duo Chiddy Bang, about their first major label EP debut, The Preview, almost nine months ago, they were just on the rise returning to Philly to perform at the TLA after coming back from tour behind their breakout track “Opposite of Adults. And in that short time, they went from up-and-comers to spotlight stealers. Well, they found themselves featured in the Bamboozle festival circuit and currently are confirmed for Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits. Chiddy also snagged himself a Guinness World Record for the longest freakin’ freestyle ever (clocking in at nine hours, sixteen minutes and twenty-two seconds) at MTV’s O Awards. They’re planning to release their much-anticipated first major label full-length, Breakfast, at the end of the summer. And they received a heavy endorsement deal from Taco Bell as one of their featured Feed the Beat artists (which also includes locals Dr. Dog), with their hit single "The Good Life" also being used in the current Taco 12 Pack commercial – a first-ever for a Feed the Beat artist. They’ve recently teamed up with the fast food joint to give away two tickets to 300 lucky fans for their free exclusive gig tonight at the First Unitarian Church to celebrate their newest mixtape Peanut Butter & Swelly, which drops May 27. It should be a dope show, but if you got shutout, you’ll still be able to live-stream it through Ustream, so you’ll be able to enjoy it from the comfort of home. But you’d seriously be missing out on a memorable live experience, and plenty of free tacos courtesy of the Taco Bell Truck that’ll be stationed outside. Not too shabby; not too shabby indeed.
