Head – Power Trio’s Rippin’ Classic Rock Single “Shudder”

Posted on:

Hard rock trio Head have released their latest single “Shudder”. This classic rock track has a heavy blues influence in the opening riff. This track was produced by Ian Blurton at ProGold studios and has excellent sonic quality. The drums are crisp, the bass rumbles and the guitar shreds. It’s definitely a driving tune that would sound particularly good during these sweaty summer days. Head has been teasing a big announcement is on the horizon so follow their socials and don’t miss out on the next hot rock n’ roll show from Head. – Kris Gies

A Case of Mistaken Identity debuts with aggressive record “Doomed to Shred”

Posted on:

Like a triple shot of your favorite espresso, Boston’s A Case of Mistaken Identity is jolting your heart into near tachycardia for the week power through. The band’s brand new record Doomed to Shred promises to provide post-punk revival enthusiasts with a killer dose of noise. The sonic whirlwind of arpeggiating guitars, ruckus drums and saw-toothed basslines peaks with vocals that blend punk speed with nu-metal aggression. Tracks like “Overtones” summon the early days of Rage Against the Machine, while the electric guitar that solos in “Outside” is bound to possess you. The group is an accident waiting to happen, the kind that does not allow you to look away. We are streaming the energetic punk track “Reset” for you below. – Rene Cobar

Singer-songwriter Sam Silbert (of Gorpho) recently shared a solo effort, simply titled Songs. The three-song EP captivates with painstakingly, brutal honesty. Creating beautiful tales of loss and heartbreak, it’s a bit of bedroom-folk at its finest. Feels aplenty are captured on this brief yet poignant snapshot in time.

Sammy Cannillo “What Happened”

Sammy Cannillo has released new single called “What Happened”. This is the first original music we have received from Sammy since the release of her sophomore EP, “Interim”, back in 2017.

Sammy blends folk, pop, and rock with her clear ability to tell a compelling story. This track also marks her first collobartion with producer Joseph Marcus, and we hope this is the just first of many songs from these two.

You can catch Sammy Cannillo on August 10th at Shuga Records (1272 N. Milwaukee) with Kacie Swierk.

Humeysha releases sandy new single “Nusrat on the Beach”

Posted on:

Humeysha — the project of musician and songwriter Zain Alam — will release new EP Nusrat on the Beach on August 2nd; the record’s name takes inspiration from a dream of Alam’s, in which he saw legendary Pakistani vocalist and musician Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan on the beach. You can hear some of the passion and devotion from Nusrat’s music in the EP’s title track, mixed with the chilled out indie sounds from Alam which convey the surf and sand. The whole song acts as an aural gateway to Alam’s dream; you’ll dream it yourself. Take a listen to "Nusrat on the Beach" below. – Will Sisskind

Weekend Warrior – August 2 – 4

Posted on:

Cayetana performs for the final time (in the foreseeable future) this Saturday evening at Union Transfer. We certainly have a soft spot for the Philly trio – so much respect goes out to the ladies for deciding to pick up instruments for the first time and just go for it as a band. Their music finds a way to exhibit earnest vulnerability that gets under your skin, while simultaneously serving as an exhilarating, cathartic release.  The locked-in powerful push of rhythm unites with the expressively raw, soulful vocals, pulling one into the deftly-detailed, memorable, lyrical scenes. They’ll be joined by the glimmering, melodic, twang-infused narratives of Katie Ellen and the charming storytelling of Dave Tomaine’s Cave People. (Photo by Mary Ferrigno) – Michael Colavita

Clairo’s star rises quickly with debut record, show set for XL Center 08.04

Posted on:

If you have not heard of Boston’s Clairo, you soon will: the young artist is seeping into the pages of major publications like The Guardian with her debut record Immunity. Clairo is set to seriously shake up the pop hierarchy with her lively brand of synth-pop music. Don’t just imagine synth-driven tunes, picture energetic indie-rock guitar riffs, groovy drumbeats and the reverb-tinged vocals of a young woman ready to let her emotions spill across the mainstream. Clairo’s record is a sonic chameleon taking on the best colors of today’s music landscape: Immunity has the trap beats that currently surge in Chicago, the electro-rock bubbling in New York City and the ever-vibrant pop glaze of Los Angeles. You will want to catch this artist before she is out of reach, and the XL Center in Hartford is the place to do that on August 4th. We are streaming the red hot track “Bags” from the new record below. – Rene Cobar
