Paper Scissors Media in conjunction with Good How Are You Records present Great How’ve You Been Fest 18 this weekend. Split between Tralfamadore and Pleasure Mountain Ballroom on Saturday and Sunday respectively, the event assembles a large contingent of local talent. Saturday’s slate includes the down-to-earth, figuring-it-out-as-it-goes, melodic, pop-punk narratives of Yeenar. Conversely, Francis Ponton, a.k.a. Overwinter, smoothly simmers into the void on a multifaceted electro/synth-pop vessel. With another new EP, There’s Nothing More I Can Do, due out tomorrow, Dani in Public lays word-weaving, introspective lyrics over neon-lit, electro-experimenting beats, wrapping the listener in a vulnerable groove. Among those featured on Sunday are the quartet of Blushed, who mesh ethereal, head-in-the-clouds dreampop with turbulent groundswells in surf-garage hybrid. Riding a rhythmic wave, the rambunctious alt-rock of Full Bush invites you into a rowdy release of energy, while garage-psych rockers Secret Nudist Friends captivate with their rippin’ jams. Mykele Deville “Type Love”
Mykele Deville has released a video for his single “Type Love”, from his forthcoming album, Maintain, which is due out on Feb. 22nd via No Trend Record.
The track features a chorus from Daryn Alexus, and video features the talented dancer/performance artist Po’Chop (aka Jenn Freeman). It was directed by Mckenzie Chinn, a fellow member of the Growing Concerns Poetry Collective.

The All-New Insane release debut EP “Good Afternoon”; play Rocketown 12.12
There is something endearing about a band playing what they call "spooky rock and catchy tunes" at a venue where the mission directly names Christ. But The All-New Insane — who do indeed have the catchy tunes — will make it happen on December 12th at Rocketown. The group, made up of Friends For Sale’s Baker Legate and Sweetrocket’s Brian Simcox, has spent their year releasing singles, playing local shows, and recording their debut EP, Good Afternoon. That EP has just dropped on the group’s Bandcamp page; it includes all of their previously released singles from the year, as well as two new tracks called "Fake Affection" and "Blush". Cordoba “Shut It Down”
Cordoba has released a powerful video for their single “Shut It Down” from their most recent album, Break the Locks Off Everything New, which was released back in April.
This is a Jazz Fusion sextet consisting of Brianna Tong (vocals), Eric Novak (vocals and sax), Cam Cunningham (guitar), Zach Bain-Selbo (keys), Khalyle Hagood (bass), and Zach Upton-Davis (drums).

Co-directed by Natasha Cohen-Carroll and Sterling Duns, hip-hop collective Hardwork Movement recently posted a new video for “I Do What I Do”. The single can be found on the group’s latest EP Playing With Fire, which is out now via nicethingsMUSIC. What begins as a street-level chase/getaway scene shifts to members and friends "flexing" and busting some coordinated dance moves. It’s a playful, confident display that looks like a good time had by all filming. Devon Church celebrates LP release at Alphaville tonight 11.30
Former Exitmusic member Devon Church (whom we interviewed here) has released his solo debut album “We Are Inextricable.” While holding on to many of the dream-like qualities of his previous band, his material features a more intimate and introspective style of writing. BYSTS whip up the noise on Dreamland EP
BYSTS specialize in noisy squall with a sweet touch on their latest EP, Dreamland. The Los Angeles-via-Utah duo of Bryan Holbrook and Stefanie Marlow draw on some familiar influences, from The Jesus and Mary Chain’s elegant fuzz to Taste-era The Telescopes, pushing forth a swirling array of layered distortion that both thrills and numbs the senses. There’s a keen toughness present on this all-too-brief release, three smoldering tracks where the duo delivers their bluesy noise with amped-up precision and lush vocal harmonies.

LoFi Satellites take psychedelic rock n roll, turn up the warbling reverb, add a chugging rhythm and tie it all together with the energy of Marc Belluomini’s vocals, ranging from wistful to angry and wild then back again. Track “Feet to the Fire” rumbles in with a sassy booming bass-drum duet and carries the song throughout its highs and lows. Did we mention that baseline?
