knapsack

Posted on:

Knapsack is the Synth Pop of 16 year old Gabriel O’Leary. This week he released his latest album, futura, and is poised to really blow up over the coming months. He recently hit 100k monthly listeners on Spotify, and the album’s lead single “Headache” has been streamed over 26k on Soundcloud. So, what is it the makes Knapsack’s music so compelling?

It has to be his unique approach to bedroom pop blending addictive beats and echoing vocals to create a compelling song structure unlike most anything else out today.

New Track: “Hate Speech” – APE!

Posted on:

Feedback and rapid percussion set the stage on APE!’s single “Hate Speech”. It’s the first offering from the band’s forthcoming album Snotty Brat Rock. A degree of downhill aggression/menace pushes the message, as the duality of the declaration dismisses the importance of the subject (individual), while conversely acknowledging the impact of spoken words runs full steam ahead. It’s confrontational yet catchy in an abbreviated grunge-metal punch.

Frankie & Jimmy – New Sliding Delta Demento Blues Record “Blues on the Brain”

Posted on:

The Poor Man’s Blues Brothers from Hamilton are back with their latest LP of sliding delta demento blues titled "Blues on the Brain". Frankie shreds the slide guitar and percussion while Jimmy staight hollers into a microphone and/or harmonica. Their latest LP is filled with fuzzed out blues, gospel and country tunes. Not only do they crank out bad ass versions of traditional tracks but they always come equipped with some of their very own homemade “Burn Your Blues Away” hot sauce. A must-purchase when you see Frankie & Jimmy live. Which you can do at Doors Pub in Hamilton on October 20th along with The Jesse James Medicine Show and The Ginbombs. – Kris Gies

New Davey and the Chains LP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Posted on:

A chill, fluid groove is ever present on Shimmy, the new album from Davey and the Chains. A gentle, surf sway and sparkle off the recording create a cozy, hip-shaking record. The laidback, fire-burning nostalgia with psychedelic threads that flare up, at times, cruises on the mellow, melodic waves but rips when the moment is right. Let it ride.

New Port Henry EP Available for Streaming & Download

Posted on:

Port Henry recently unearthed a sonic capsule, which they’ve named BSL MSI. Assisted by electronic experimentation, there’s a light, tranquil ambiance with an unpredictable nature, found on the band’s latest release. Delicate grooves twist and turn through a key/percussion-oriented space. As the band works on a new record, these quirky, subdued recordings provide a strange bit of comfort.

Vanderocker releases sweeping new single “Driftwood”

Posted on:

Adrienne VanDeRocker got inspired by the vast landscapes of the Mojave Desert for her forthcoming album, Point Defiance. The L.A.-via-Austin singer-songwriter’s first single off of her second release, "Driftwood," is a sweeping, atmospheric rocker that is tinted with an intoxicating psychedelic sheen. A prominent bass slithers beside her susurrating vocals, which cast a shadow over a sun-beamed aura of shimmering sonic textures as if Steve Albini were given the opportunity to record another Pixies record at Rancho De La Luna studios. But aside from VanDeRocker’s wandering groove, though, lies a sinister undertone whose attitude strikes with resounding clarity.

Look out FOR Point Defiance later this fall. Juan Rodríguez

With R&B-inspired arrangements and meditative lyrics, this artist’s eclectic collection showcases a style that’s at once edgy and relatable. In his more popular tracks "Tongue of Yours" and "Between the Pages," Egan experiments with minimal electronic percussion and smooth falsetto vocals, creating melodies that move along with pleasant leisure.
