Land, the new EP from the quartet of Another Michael, is now available via Topshelf Records. “About” kicks things off with its clear-headed, stream-of-consciousness lyrics. ”Go There” expands on a fluid, piano-backend groove, in an ultra smooth R&B manner. “Connect” contemplates in a laidback jog of concise layers, while “Score” closes the album out, stacking sound in a tight expansion of rhythm and ascending, uniting vocals.
New Remixed Instupendo EP Available for Streaming & Purchase
A remixed spin of Instupendo’s Faces I Know recently emerged. Slow Magic shifts the celestial dynamic of “Fleur,” playing an emphasis on the pulsating waves of danceable motion. Owsey took the cloud-surfing, delicate breaths of “Boy,” and introduced additional punches of sonics, pulling it out of a dream state by increasing the stakes and immediate impact. The vibrant, at ease tones of “Clementine” are propelled futuristically forward by Laxcity, strolling with a pronounced purpose, before blossoming orchestrally.

Clean Spill share video for new single “Rolling,” play SoHo House on 8/31
When love takes a sad and dark turn, it’s best to try to relax and kick back with your friends. Pat Curren, the lead singer of indie rock band Clean Spill, tries to get over a heartache by playing with his friends on the video for their latest single, "Rolling." The romantic track follows a surfy, fifties rock style with an early aughts indie rock bent, which paired with Curren’s garbly, yet emotive vocal delivery, showcases their buoyant personality. Maybe Curren doesn’t get his desired outcome as it concludes, but judging by this promising track – and with a little help from his friends – the future looks quite bright.
"Rolling" is the latest single off of Clean Spill’s forthcoming EP, Nothing’s on My Mind, which comes out later this summer. Catch them at SoHo House in Santa Barbara on August 31. Juan Rodríguez
Gamblers channel pure bliss on latest single, announce EP out on 09.07
Sometimes it can seem arbitrary what gets labeled as derivative and what gets labeled as simply inspired. Why does an indie rock band get called rip-offs while a similar group is deconstructing sounds and reinventing old ideas? Gamblers are the latest band to confront this question with their newest single “Corinthian Order” off their upcoming EP of the same name. Indebted to Wilco, the track features plinking percussion and a slight twang on the guitars as the breezy melodies and lush vocal harmonies shuffle together nonchalantly. The comparisons to the alt-country legends could have ended there, but what makes this reiteration so refreshing is the continuation of Wilco’s almost zen-like understanding of relationships. The laid back approach to miscommunication and realizing that time is the only cure for problems culminates with Beach Boys-esque vocals that coo and assure the world that everything’s all right. It’s an updated take on a classic sound, fusing indie-pop with sentiments that were mastered by previous generations of artists, and it’s what makes Gamblers’ newest song a delightful passing of the torch. The Corinthian Order EP will be out September 7. -Tucker Pennington
Haley Heynderickx’s Tiny Desk Performance
Here at the Deli, we love it when great local artists get the recognition they deserve. Local favorite Haley Heynderickx was not only just featured in Rolling Stone, but she also just got on NPR’s Tiny Desk! Heynderickx, known for rich vocals and a uniquely dark folksy style, has just returned to town after a summer on tour.
Her Tiny Desk performance is true to form. Heynderickx is endearing as always, tender both in attitude and in her music. At one point the band gives 5 seconds of “intimate eye contact” to the camera, so as to show the people back home that they love them. Well Haley, you’re equally as loved and we’re glad to have you back.

Charlie Moses
If you’re in the mood for something to listen to while slow dancing in a darkly lit room, look no further than Charlie Moses. Many of her songs are romantic and gentle, as soft as a feather brushing across your cheek. They also contain some darker notes, lyrics that are playfully disquiet and toy with the listener’s sense of unease. Think late 1950’s film noir. However, the album also has some peppier, more pop oriented songs as well. The song “8-5” has a distinct indie-pop sound, similar to Mitski or Angel Olsen. Listening to it places you in a warm summer day, driving down the road with your windows down and the wind whipping your hair around.
Charlie Moses will be playing a benefit show this Wednesday, August 8th at the Turn Turn Turn, along with Half Shadow and Sunbaby. All proceeds will go to IRCO, Families Belong Together, and The Young Center LA.

Song Premiere: Okay Alright “Human”
Okay Alright is primarily the work of Bryce Waitkus of War Is Over. Last year he released a collection of song he had written and self-recorded while in High School. They were somewhat raw demos, but showed a lot of promise.
On August 9th Bryce will be releasing his new album, Tomorrow, When We Wake, and it is a huge leap forward. He continues with his mostly acoustic bedroom pop approached, but this album is flushed out with the help of the vocals of Leyla Rose and professional production.
Okay Alight is sleepy Americana in the vein of the quieter moments of Bright Eyes or Wilco, but so exciting to be coming for an up and coming 18 year old musician. We are proud to be able to premiere the album’s first single “Human” below.

Debut Eel Tank Album Available for Streaming & Purchase
Sometimes music sounds like taking psychedelics in a black-light, laser-tag arena. Or that Kia Soul commercial with the cruising chipmunks, except way more off the rails. Eel Tank is the moniker of Philly’s own Nicki Duval, who works as one of the creative engines behind the beloved music booking collective All Mutable. An abrupt and powerful synthesis of power electronics with elements of thrash, industrial, and jungle are prevalent throughout Eel Tank’s debut album, Cure. Crunchy vocals slip out between the cracks of the kaleidoscopic rhythm; all contained within shifting planes of neon textures. Cure is now available on cassette via experimental electronic label Embalming Lately. – Josh Kelly
