It may not technically be released, but you can still listen to the new Trash Knife/Dumb Vision split. Attacking from all directions, Trash Knife engulfs in a torrent of nonstop, blazing riffs and bombarding rhythms that are unforgiving and melodic. It’s easy to get caught up in that all-in-from-the-jump point of view, which the band shares with Wisconsin’s Dumb Vision. The six-song selection is slated for release via Kitschy Spirit Records at a TBD date. Catch Trash Knife as part of Philly Still Fucking Shreds 2018, on Sunday, June 24 at Century Bar!

Navy Gangs share first single from debut album Poach, kick off tour at Trans-Pecos on 5/31
Gearing up for the release of their debut album Poach via Modern Sky Entertainment, Brooklyn-based indie rockers Navy Gangs are preparing to kick off an over 30 date North American tour. After their well received 2016 self-titled four song EP, the upcoming full-length (expected in early August) boasts an ambitious 14 tracks, which was mixed and mastered by six string indie virtuoso Delicate Steve Marion. Lead single “Housekeeping” shows his touch on the guitar sound production, with its brightly buzzing riffs and distorted jungle rhythm. The easy-going slacker rock groove is accompanied by a tale of new roommate remodeling. “You’ve really made yourself at home” begins a conversational story capped by the ultimate compliment “it’s your own feng shui.” The closest thing to a chorus comes by way of the repeated line “I really love what you’ve done with the place,” capably serving as hook and emotional center. The tour begins with a show on 5/31 at Trans-Pecos with support from Poppies and Dan English. – Dave Cromwell

PLNT9 take on visceral noise rock on “Let Loose”
PLNT9 build up the intensity and keep it that way on "Let it Loose." The debut single by the Hermosa Beach trio provides a zestful blast of pure rock n’ roll, where a hard-charging beat continually batters over Nick Haze’s metallic riffs. But it’s the dynamic rhythm section of vocalist Alex Archon and Chuck Mckissock that keeps the track in place, as they unapologetically play with a ferocity that is both muscular and taut. It’s a confident introduction that clearly delineates the trio’s no-frills combination of noise rock with psych elements.
The trio are following up "Let Loose" with a new single sometime in June. In the meantime, listen to the track below. Juan Rodríguez
NEAVV – New Synth-Pop Track “So Sick”
Neavv (formerly known as GRAY) is a Toronto based artist who makes alternative synth pop along with producer “DV”. Her latest track “So Sick” is like a rockin’ version of a hit pop tune. It has all the synth and thumpin’ kick you would want in a pop tune to crank in your car but also has some real instrumentation and a rippin’ solo reminiscent of an 80’s hair metal song. Listen to the track below to see what it’s all about. – Kris Gies
Weekend Warrior, May 25 – 27
Philly’s Blowdryer released a new full-length self-titled tape today, and this evening, they’ll be celebrating its arrival at Everybody Hits. Acknowledging present circumstances in direct lyricism, keenly cutting to the points, the band melodically maneuvers with exuberant ends, highlighting observations & issues on the individual (micro-level) that can be applied on the larger scale. The post-punk trio creates something that’s fun and catchy, while touching on the shortcomings of living in our own self-contained bubbles. Tonight, Sarah Everton (Telepathic, Bleeding Rainbow), Robyn Campbell (Permanent Body), and Dominique Montgomery will be supported by noise-punks Chronic Anxiety and the quartet of Soft Crime, which is made up of Jason Killinger (Spacin’), Jenna Robb (Louie Louie), Colin Pate (Total Discharge) and Emily Burtner (Marge). – Michael Colavita

Woodhead headlines video release show 05.30 at The Footlight
The music made by New York art-punk quartet Woodhead takes in equal parts from the complexity of progressive rock and the immediacy of punk. Full of abrupt rhythms, squalling guitars, and moments of unhinged screaming by guitarist/vocalist Vern Woodhead, it’s a sound that’s conscious of its ability to be challenging and abrasive. It can be heard on 2016’s El Inmortal, from the twisted garage pop of “Boys Float” to the flurry of free jazz saxophone on “El Perro.” On May 30, Woodhead will release a new video for a track called “Four Corners.” You can catch the band live that night at The Footlight. – Cameron Carr
