A Deli Premiere: Roxy Rawson’s single “Rounded Sound”

Posted on:

Bay Area artist Roxy Rawson creates jazz-influenced folk with an edge, using a fast-paced delivery and dynamic vocals to create music reminiscent of Soviet Kitsch-era Regina Spektor. Rawson distinguishes herself through her advanced techniques and grasp on music theory. The singer was classically trained in both piano and violin at the University of Paris VIII, and is now bringing her sweet sounds to the Bay.

The Deli SF is proud to be premiering her newest single, “Rounded Sound,” a singer-songwriter’s take on freak folk. Listen below, and stay on the lookout for her debut album Quenching the Kill, coming out later this year. – Lilly Milman

Camaromance – New Album “Chasing Clouds” Due 04.06

Posted on:

Camaromance is the musical work of Martine Groulx of Montreal. She has just announced her new album “Chasing Clouds” will be due out April 6th and has released the first single “Audrey”. Groulx says about the track – “The song is about the potential of the evening to come when friends make their way out on the town with high spirits in search of love and new adventures.” Her soft voice and relaxed attitude in the song doesn’t exactly seem like an anthem for hittin’ the streets but the desire to potentially find “Mr.Right” is there. Sometimes hope is all you need for a good time. – Kris Gies

February marked the release of Szlachetka’s debut full length Heart of My Hometown which blends sweet, heartwarming folk ballads ("Wildflowers on the Highway") with the type of crunchy rock tracks you’d expect from vintage Tom Petty ("Until That Echo"), all wrapped up in a modern package a la Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit. Gibberish brings entrancing psych-pop on “Gummi”

Posted on:

Gibberish dance around a twirl of musical ideas on "Gummi." Complicated, yet cleverly devised with sprightly spontaneity, the duo of Derek and Lorie Bromley ruminate on the idealization of nostalgia over a dizzying array of gurgling synths, reverb-drenched vocal harmonies, and lucid guitar lines. The track takes on the more adventurous side of psychedelia with a sort of meandering whimsy. But never does "Gummi" veer into the impenetrable – akin to former art pop savants The Fiery Furnaces, the duo structure all those loose-limbed pieces with a keen sense of melodic invention.

Gummi is the first single off of Gibberish’s latest release, Kneehigh, which they recently self-released via their official Soundcloud. Juan Rodríguez

Abhi The Nomad Gets Down To Business In Austin

Posted on:

Abhi The Nomad doesn’t have time to lounge at Barton Springs or get lost in the Greenbelt, because his student visa has his time here limited like a shot clock. Having moved 8 times by the time he was 18, it is no mystery where his name comes from, but his lax indie hip-hop has people guessing where his influences originated. Here on a grad school visa – Abhi is making his rhymes count, and his newly released debut album, Marbled, has the hype building around him for the upcoming SXSW festival. Already signed to Tommy Boy records, Abhi’s recognition and appreciation looks only to pick up momentum.
