In his debut single "Light and Dark," Oliver Ignatius taps into an unlikely but interesting combination of sounds: crunchy guitar solos, soaring synths, a blasting horn section, and dreamy laid-back, Queen-esque vocals. We can’t tell you why it works, exactly, but it does. Perhaps it’s Ignatius’ immaculate grasp of melody and placement of harmonies throughout that weaves all of these elements together into a funky, groovin’, garage-y track. The founder and spiritual leader of Bushwick’s DIY studio/label Mama Coco’s Funky Kitchen sure is onto something- and it definitely does feel like something a little higher. Dinner shares video for “Siren Song,” plays the Bootleg on 10/01
Dinner, the synth pop project of Danish producer/vocalist Anders Rhedin, is a suave wanderer on the video for his latest single, "Siren Song." The Copenhagen via L.A. transplant gallivants to the night’s natural rhythm with a coquettish demeanor, thinking about his pleasure-filled day as he flirts straight into the camera with his boyish, yet penetrating eyes. Rhedin is simply having fun with it, taking cues from the New Romantics who made the boys and girls swoon back in the golden age of MTV.
"Siren Song" is taken from Dinner’s recent second effort, New Work, which is out now via Captured Tracks. Get lost in his dreamy vision when he plays The Bootleg Theatre on October 1st.

Lovers releases his first single: “Fool Moon”
“Fool Moon” is a disco-house dancefloor killer just dropped by mystery debutante Lovers on Brooklyn-based house label Let’s Play House. When The Deli asked about Lovers, Let’s Play House had this to say:
“He’s brand new! Well, not exactly, but he’s trying to keep his previous work separate from what he’s doing now. He’s an old friend of LPH, though, and a Brit in NYC. Used to be in a duo when he was still in London.”
As for “Fool Moon,” it’s a disco dream – ringing cowbell, stomping percussion, soulful vocals. Fun, but also piercing, trenchant, uplifting. The type of thing Larry Levan would play at Paradise Garage on a Saturday night. – juan leon

Cones are lost in love on “Whatever You’re Into”
Cones, the songwriting duo of brothers Jonathan and Michael Rosen, first caught our attention earlier this year with the winding, Laurel Canyon-informed single “Echoes on.” Since then, they’ve aimed to buck that convention with their latest, “Whatever You’re Into,” a mellow, romantic soft-rock jam that leans towards a more cosmopolitan sound. The Rosens may have taken a slightly new direction, but they’re still committed to the groove, further stretching their musical ideas rather than sticking to a fixed format.
Watch Cones perform at the Bootleg on September 28.
New Track: “Hofner” – Night Bloom
J. Termini (a.k.a. Telequanta) and Patrick Schlitzer join creative forces as Night Bloom. Bright keys and a funky, lo-fi undercurrent lay the foundation to their new single “Hofner.” Entranced by the groove, a melodic cosmic tale of yearning emerges. BTW: I think that we’ve made up our mind.
Late Sea Unveils Video “Ring the Bells”
Brooklyn avant-rock group Late Sea’s new music video "Ring the Bells" is a collision of ominous visuals and orchestral textures, a cryptic narrative steeped in mystery. The music video tells the story of Jewish-Dutch philosopher Baruch Spinoza. Composer and vocalist Izzy Gliksberg describes Spinoza: “His story lies not only in his hermetic, esoteric, mind boggling philosophy, but also in his expelling from his community and what he suffered from being faithful to his thoughts and dreams.” The stunning cinematography of "Ring the Bells" is no less than brain-teasing and perplexing, and paired with the gorgeous, simple horn and string arrangements, the video is beautifully captivating. – Geena Kloeppel
Wiki releases new album ‘No Mountains In Manhattan’
We’re finally at that point in our relationship with Wiki that he’s starting to let us in. Where in Ratking, he and Hak bewitched us with visceral depictions of graffiti and skateboarding life from Harlem to Coney, now he’s solo and waxing philosophic. In No Mountains in Manhattan, Wiki tells us how he really feels about everything from publicists to systemic racism. He’s never preachy, and his flow is that perfect meld of NYC street style and afro-futurism. The premier video “Mayor” shows him campaigning the streets dispersing “WIKI for Mayor” stickers while he asserts his indelible connection to his NYC fam. Whether he wins against the incumbent or not, he certainly reigns supreme over the world he creates for us with his expert rhymes.
New Lonely Ghost & Soft Idiot Split EP Available for Streaming & Download
Lonely Ghost and Soft Idiot have paired up to released the aptly titled split EP Lonely/Idiot. “Sleep Well” by Lonely Ghost, a.k.a. Kenny Forrester, melodically rattles in a shoegazing absorption. Shifting into a more tranquil hypnotic atmosphere, “We Felt Safe” drifts in subtle emotives. “Eclipse Song” and “Walk,” the contributions from Justin Roth, a.k.a. Soft Idiot, swim in a jangly folk setting (with “Walk” venturing into a psych-rock/noise realm), allowing the lyrical proximity to remain in focus. Soft Idiot is slated to appear on a bill with Mavis The Dog and Cabbage at Ortleib’s on Wednesday, September 27.
