Foxtails Brigade Teams Up w/ DeModa For Blind Contour

Posted on:

NYC-based producer DeModa shared his latest single, the epic electro-pop single "Blind Contour" featuring vocals from Laura Weinbach of the Oakland-based Foxtails Brigade.

DeModa (David Johnson) spoke, "I’ve grown to be most satisfied with the way ‘Blind Contour’ came out because it incorporates all of the individual styles and rhythms that I’ve loved over the course of my life. My favorite element of the song is most certainly Laura’s contribution (Foxtails Brigade). It’s as if we were on the same wavelength because from the moment I first heard her vocals I was sure they were perfect for it."

Free-flowing and, at times, funky, emotive rock radiates from Pretty Words recently released self-titled EP. Available on cassette via Melted Tapes, the EP embodies an earnest, gritty sonic texture, stewing in consciousness while retaining an ability to cut loose. Turtle Grenade crafts intimate folk on her self-titled debut

Posted on:

A quiet acoustic melody falls gently like a descending sun on Turtle Grenade, the debut folk project of Denise Gorrio. Her delicate finger-picking slowly unfurls with a patience that provides sullen clarity, with a reflective and uniquely penetrating warble that gives life to her intimate lyrical effusions. There’s a simplicity to Gorrio’s isolated meditations, sure, but when those memories burn deep within she elevates those emotions with an ardor that comes across as sincere. It’s a lovingly stripped-down introduction that holds great promise.

Turtle Grenade’s self-titled EP is available to stream via her official bandcamp page.

NJ-based bedroom indie pop band, Rhea, craft songs the ring like delicate love notes–unassuming, but incredible poignant. Featuring soft, feminine vocals and un-fussy guitar ornamentation, there’s something immediately compelling about the band’s songwriting. Prima drops new single, SAMBA, teases impending EP

Posted on:

Prima‘s latest single, "SAMBA", is a delicious romp in tortuous tension. The Brooklyn-based band has mastered the art of keeping their cards close to chest, and makes a habit of never revealing any more musical phrases than they need to. Driven by angular guitar leads, primative drum beats, and wild-yet-controlled female vocals, SAMBA is a slow burn that pushes its listeners right up to edge, but never fully loses its cool. Check out the track streaming below, and keep your eyes peeled for Prima’s lates EP, Performance, to be released this month.-Olivia Sisinni

Winstons bring their brassy blues to Ethyl’s 4/11

Posted on:

Brooklyn-based by way of Virginia, Winstons are serving up home-fried garage soul the way your daddy likes it. The two-man powder keg of a band busts out blues rock in all its brassy and barefaced glory–crafting tracks that play out like a cross-country drive on the interstate. Recording directly to tape, the livewire, unbridled passion that pulses through the band’s tracks is left totally intact, and if anything’s for sure, they don’t quite make ’em like this anymore. Catch Winstons live at Ethyl’s 4/11 and make sure you stream them below.-Olivia Sisinni
